Watching Brief
This evening-length interactive performance event directed by viewers exposes than excavates social boundaries and physical responses.
Taking its name from the practice of discovery and protections enacted around archeological sites, Watching Brief is study on figital thresholds. Proximity, contact, and speed act as triggers for performative vignettes and digital artifacts. In that way, viewer actions reveal the live and pre-recorded content. The work includes custom software (via Max MSP), as well as original audio score, digital design, and responsive choreography.
Watching Brief is supported by the Albert P. Weisman Award through Columbia College, a City of Chicago/DCASE residency, and by Links Hall.
