Saulaman Schlegel is a performance, installation, and visual artist experimenting with religious practices as a vehicle for expressing complex identity issues. Sexuality, gender, and the taboo have always been of particular interest. They recently engaged exploration of those concepts with Megan Young and other collaborators as part of the Upstanding Others international residency at CounterPulse in SanFrancisco. Saulaman is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they work in freelance art handling, installation and education. Saulaman has worked with a number of non-profits, museums, galleries, and non-traditional spaces. They hold a bachelor’s degree in visual arts, and a concentration in creative writing from Grand View University.
