Space for Myself
We come to know our world through our bodies, but these are contested sites. This duet of live and mediated dancing explores the feedback of identity formation with reference to our post-digital, distributed lives. Developed in collaboration with soloists Emily Thompson (featured above) and Angela Luem (featured below), these works are crafted through cyclical sessions of directed improvisation, archiving, and response to one’s own image. In performace, the work utilizes front projection on a sharskstooth screen in front of the performer. The production design creates a surreal extended reality whereby the soloist exists inside themselves. Iterations include mediated performance, interactive installation, and telematic experience.
