Space for Myself

We come to know our world through our bodies, but these are contested sites. This duet of live and mediated dancing explores the feedback of identity formation with reference to our post-digital, distributed lives. Developed in collaboration with soloists Emily Thompson (featured above) and Angela Luem (featured below), these works are crafted through cyclical sessions of directed improvisation, archiving, and improvisation in response to one’s own video archive.

As media performance for the stage, the work utilizes front projection on a sharskstooth screen with the performer behind. The work can also be presented as performance installation or online, telematic, experience.
